The Newcastle Centre was founded in 1972.  It currently has approximately 100 students which includes many adults who are taught by two specialist adult tutors.

The Centre office is open between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm on Friday.

The Centre offers the following services:

• Psychological assessments by chartered psychologists for children and adults including free half-hour Post Assessment Consultation
• Educational Assessments for children (by a specialist teacher)
• Specialist multisensory tuition in literacy and numeracy, planned to individual needs, for children and adults
• Free half-hour advice sessions (by appointment) to discuss dyslexia-related problems
• Holiday tuition
• Parents' courses
• Individual short Study Skills courses available on request
• Awareness presentations to employers, schools and training providers
• Individual screening for children aged 4-6 years
• Work-based assessment and consultations on request
